The Minnesota News Media Institute is pleased to present a day-long advertising sales training event on Friday, October 11!
Basic Advertising Sales training – during this session we will discuss ideas and concepts that can help you succeed immediately and in the future. This will be a participatory environment where you can ask questions and engage. We will start with a check-up from the neck up and see what you are thinking, wondering or concerns you may have. Then we will move to outlining the key building blocks to running your territory or account list. After building blocks we will talk about the account call, customer information and what you need to know to close more business. Finally, we will talk about engaging with your Sales Manager/boss and how to get the most out of your relationship with the least amount of effort for both of you. Finally bring your commission plan and let see if you really understand how it works and how you can make the most money.

Bill Albrecht was named the President and Publisher of the Akron Beacon Journal on May 14, 2018. A responsibility that covers the extensive audience that the Beacon Journal portfolio reaches and the impact of helping business reach the audiences they desire through a sophisticated toolbox of digital and print techniques.
In addition, Albrecht is the Group Publisher for GateHouse Media Ohio, which includes websites and publications in Canton, Kent, Alliance, Massillon, Wooster, Ashland, Dover/New Philadelphia and Cambridge markets.
Originally, from what he calls the real Midwest, Bill grew up just outside of Dubuque, IA and spent most of his career in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Dakota. However, he did live in Newark, Ohio previously while working for another media company. Throughout his career, he has been in large and small markets; worked for privately held and publically traded companies.
While Bill has been in administrative positions for many years he continues to go on sales calls and generate revenue. His start was at a twin weekly newspaper and many of the properties he oversees are between 3,500 and 10,000 circulation with companion websites. Bill has evolved in his market tactics as the world has change and the newspaper industry transitions.
