Got an idea you think might make a great digital project, but you’re not sure how to execute it? Nick Dumont of the Gaston (N.C.) Gazette walks you through the planning process of a digital project. Dumont first grabbed the attention of the media world with his Hops Street project, and has since helped a mid-sized newsroom churn out a number of impactful digital pieces.

Nick Dumont is the visual journalist for the Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star. An Emerson College graduate, Dumont creates special digital presentations for news, sports and lifestyles projects. He primarily focuses on data visualization, interactive graphics and multimedia elements. Dumont’s work has been recognized by both the North and South Carolina Press Associations for writing and design.
