Exploring Conflict-Sensitive Journalism

September 29, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Exploring Conflict-Sensitive JournalismJoin The UpTake’s Conflict-Sensitive Video Journalism Fellows and Conflict-Sensitive Journalism expert Ross Howard for an evening of discussion and examination of this exciting approach to journalism.

Conflict-Sensitive Journalism empowers journalists to report on events and issues professionally without feeding the flames of harmful conflict. As conflict is a central feature of most issues on which we report, The UpTake believes it is critical to understand what causes conflict, how it develops and ends. Reporters must also understand their role in the unfolding of conflict: how they exacerbate conflict, how parties in conflict might be using them in conflict, and how to minimize the harm they may impose when turning their cameras and microphones on parties in conflict.

This event is free and open to the public in partnership with The Minnesota Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, The Minnesota Journalism Center and The Conflict Resolution Center of Minnesota. Seating is limited. Tickets required.

You may attend this event virtually, by visiting theuptake.org to watch live on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.
