A Fragile Trust: Plagiarism, Power and Jayson Blair at the New York Times

Register online now!

A FRAGILE TRUST tells the shocking story of Jayson Blair, the most infamous serial plagiarist of our time, and how he unleashed the massive scandal that rocked the New York Times and the entire world of journalism. The story of “The Blair Affair” is both a compelling, character-driven narrative about an important chapter in the history of journalism, and a complex story about power, ethics, representation, race, and accountability in the mainstream media. Featuring exclusive interviews, including Blair himself, A FRAGILE TRUST is the first film to tell the whole sordid story of the scandal while exploring these deeper themes.

After the film, SJMC faculty members Jane Kirtley, Keith Moyer, and Chris Ison will lead a discussion on legal and ethical considerations in journalism.

We finish off with a reception where you’ll have the chance to continue the discussion informally, and also to mix and mingle with colleagues and talk with the 2015 Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists Fellows, a group of 15 journalists from 14 European countries visiting the University of Minnesota.

The event is free, but please click here to register!
