Federico Subervi will explore the media, politics and other contemporary issues affecting the Latino population. 

Subervi, whose home country is Puerto Rico, will also briefly talk about the challenges
facing the U.S colony given the current economic crises and the consequences of
hurricanes Irma and Maria.

About the speaker: Federico Subervi divides his time between his duties as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Latino Public Radio Consortium, President of the Association for Latino Media & Markets Communication Research, Advisory Board member for Child Trends Hispanic and various research projects related to the mass media in Puerto Rico, his home country.

Subervi was previously a full professor at the School of Journalism & Mass Communication at Kent State University in Ohio, where he helped develop the College of Communication and Information doctoral program while continuing his research about Latinos and media issues. He also held faculty position at Texas State University, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of California at Santa Barbara.
