Presented by Kelly Wirges, President and CEO, ProMax Training & Consulting, Inc.
This session will teach you the secrets of effective communication. It will describe three proven techniques to create interest and generate sales, as well as deliver advertising recommendations that clients will appreciate and accept. You will learn how to prepare a value statement that helps prospects to understand how you can assist them in increasing sales, and how your products can help them achieve their business goals. Think you are currently speaking persuasively? Join the session to learn if you are, or you just think you are!
2:30pm-3:30pm: Getting Responses from your Print and Digital Ads
Presented by Joe DeBiak, CEO and Founder, Center for Advertising Effectiveness
This session will focus on getting responses from your print and digital ads by answering a few key questions. What the real purpose of a direct-response ad is…and no, it’s not what you think it is! What advertisers REALLY want from their ads? You will learn how to choose THE RIGHT ad content to motivate response and to develop the ad’s “irresistible” offer, use headlines and visuals and much more.
4:00pm-5:00pm: The New Prospecting
Presented by Pete Conti, Sales and Marketing Director, LMA; Amie Stein, Training and Development Director, LMA
Do your current sales prospecting methods bring in qualified leads or is it bringing in people willing to listen to a sales presentation? So when it comes time to close the sale and to get a signature on the contract does the sale stall because your prospect was never qualified to buy in the first place-they were just simply willing to listen? Learn how to identify the right prospects for your digital advertising.

Sales Management Symposium – Wednesday, July 17

1:00pm-1:15pm: Opening Comments and Welcome, Nancy Lane, President, LMA

1:15pm-2:15pm: Keynote Presentation: ‘The Mirror Doesn’t Lie, or Does it?’ Becoming a More Inspirational Leader Starting Today!
Presented by: Kelly Wirges, President and CEO, ProMax Training & Consulting, Inc.
This session is for anyone in a leadership position who wants to be more effective in engaging their associates by creating a dynamic, fun and high-performance work culture. Throughout various discussions it will encourage participants to carefully “look in the mirror” to review their leadership style. More importantly, it encourages them to view their daily actions and inaction through the eyes of their team in order to see a more important picture. The session will encourage participants to proactively make adjustments in their coaching, management and leadership styles that will have immediate impact on their success.

2:30pm-3:30pm: Powerful Leadership Secrets and Answers for These Interesting Times
Presented by Gary Moore, President, Insight Edge, Inc.
For the past twenty years newspaper and digital ad sales leaders have experienced extraordinary and binding strains within the workplace. Fasten your mental seat belt as tension points will accelerate just as quickly during the next five years. Ad managers must lead their teams first by quickly identifying destructive dynamics and then follow-up with proper execution (by example) to effectively tackle internal and external threats. We have experienced unintentional consequences from our advancements and the new work culture; it will either chew-you-up or create a successful leadership platform. To fully maximize your local media revenue opportunities you must excel in three profound disciplines. If you already have a solid plan in place to address these potential areas of crisis, you’ll come away with additional ideas to lead your print and digital ad team to success. If you discover you don’t have a powerful three-pronged foundation in place, you’ll walk away with a strategic plan that will make the remainder of 2013 a fulfilling mission in the business economics of relationships. There’s never been a better time to rise up and be a multimedia ad leader.

1:15pm-2:15pm: Keynote Presentation: Effective Social Speak – How to Engage and Win with Social Chatter
Presented by Beverly Crandon, Director, Media Partnerships, Dream Local Digital
Though social networks and social media have been a part of our professional and personal lives for some time now, many businesses find forming effective conversations, with the right audience, via the right social platform somewhat daunting. In this session, we’ll not only talk about the power of these platforms today and tomorrow, but we’ll go one step further and demystify the act of effective communication on these platforms, with the intent to increase engagement, followers and brand mind share.

2:30pm-3:30pm: The Building Blocks of Email Marketing
Presented by Michelle Novak, Manager, Client Sales, Presslaff Interactive Marketing
We’ll show you how to send relevant, revenue-generating e-mails. You will learn how to find dollars in your database.

4:00pm-5:00pm: How to Maximize and Monetize Your Social Platforms
Presented by Beverly Crandon, Director, Media Partnerships, Dream Local Digital
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and sometimes one over the other, take command in our minds when we think about social media, but as more and more social platforms join the arena and actually gain massive user adoption, choosing which platform deserves your attention can be the biggest social turn off you experience. In this session we’ll review the more prominent social platforms, and their user profiles, giving you insight into what platform will work the best for either your brand or your advertisers brand. In each case we’ll talk about key metrics to measure success, including monetization. We’d like to think that all social platforms have a role to play because we can’t all change the world 140 characters at a time!
