One of the top state news media association conventions in the United States, the 2024 MNA Convention & Trade Show is happening Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest, Brooklyn Center.

Speakers and programs are being finalized; here are key scheduling points to know for early registation:
Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024:
- Board and committee meetings throughout the day, starting at 10 a.m.
- Evening welcome reception (new!) at 5 p.m. for new publishers, Editors & Publishers Community Leadership Program alumni, Citizen Journalism University Alumni, past presidents, committee and board members, and any other MNA member. Hors d’oeuvres/cash bar.
Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024
- Trade Show opens at 8 a.m.
- Morning sessions begin at 9:30 a.m.
- Luncheon at noon – Keynote speakers: Child safety advocates Patty Wetterling and Joy Baker, co-authors of “Dear Jacob: A Mother’s Journey of Hope.”
- Afternoon sessions begin at 2 p.m.
- Better Newspaper Contest reception at 5:30 p.m.
- Better Newspaper Contest Awards Banquet at 6:30 p.m.
- BNC After Party until 12:30 a.m.
Friday, Feb. 2, 2024
- Trade Show opens at 7:30 a.m.
- Morning sessions begin at 9:30 a.m.
- Luncheon at noon – Keynote by Minneapolis Star Tribune Publisher Steve Grove.
- Afternoon sessions begin at 2 p.m.
Sessions and roundtable topics will include:

- Prep sports reporting to build readership
- The power of newspapers to impact communities in concrete ways
