National Newspaper Week

National Newspaper Week

Newspapers: The Cornerstone of Your CommunityNational Newspaper Week (NNW) will be October 6-12, 2013. It observes the importance of newspapers to communities large and small. This year’s theme is: “Your Community, Your Newspaper, Your Life.” The Newspaper Association Managers (NAM) has sponsored the national observance since 1940.

Special thanks to the Tennessee Press Association that coordinated materials for this year’s kit, which contains editorials, editorial cartoons, promotional ads and more (crossword puzzles!). The selection of materials is available for download at no charge to newspapers across North America.

NNW is the only industry observance of newspapers of the year and deserves our support. Run as much material as possible during that week. Editorialize on the important roles newspapers play in our communities, using local angles whenever possible.

To promote National Newspaper Week, MNA has covered the cost of materials for all members.  Materials are now available for download: http://www.nationalnewspaperweek.com

MNA National Newspaper Week Ad

New this year will be newspaper promotional ads that are specific to individual states. These creative spots were developed by Intersect Media Solutions & Florida Press Association, and tout high newspaper readership for each state.  Your paper, along with every other newspaper in the country, will receive a press release as well as an insertion order to run the Minnesota readership ad as a house ad during National Newspaper Week.   This is your opportunity to convey the vitality and good news about newspapers. Don’t miss out.

Following NNW, the materials will remain on the website and can be accessed by newspapers for use throughout the year since our message is timeless.

If you have any questions about how your newspaper can participate in National Newspaper Week, contact Lisa Hills (lisa@mna.org or 612-332-0222).
